High, above 70 up to 200
A Fine & Kinney score above 70, up to 200. Measures necessary.
Measures necessary.
A score above 70 and up to 200 means the current way of working is not good enough. Measures have to be taken to lower the risk.
What it asks of you
- Decide which measures to take and who is responsible for them.
- Start with technical controls at the source, then organisational measures, then personal protection.
- Reassess after the measures are in place, so the new score is on record.
How to bring it down
Probability is usually the quickest lever. Divide 70 by effect × exposure to find the probability that brings the score to Medium, or divide 20 to reach Low. If no probability on the scale is low enough, shorten or reduce the exposure, or replace the product.
Example
A product with H314 and H290 has an effect of 15 + 1 = 16. It is used Regularly (2) with Personal protection only (3):
16 × 2 × 3 = 96, High.
| Change | Score | Band |
|---|---|---|
| Add technical controls, drop personal protection: Technical controls only (1) | 32 | Medium |
| Use both: Adequate controls (0.51) | 16.3 | Low |
